Working from Home – My Experiences in the COVID-19 Pandemic

This pandemic has had a major effect on all of us. Many of us right now are experiencing lockdowns as non-essential businesses are shut down and many of us are at home right now.

Many businesses are transitioning to work from home to cope up with the new normal in our lives.

At first, I am not really used to working from home. I really want to go to an office every day because I love going out at malls and other places after work to unwind.

But right now due to the lockdown, the work space and the place where I sleep is so near that after work, I immediately go to bed and upon waking up, get immediately to work. It is quite a new experience to me but I am getting used to it.

Time passes by and I got used quite a bit to working from home. I made sure to set a specific routine for my breaks and made sure to do my best in the work assigned to me. I also made sure to clean my room/work space to make a more conducive and productive environment for work.

I also made sure to go outside a bit (with proper social distancing and PPE) so that I can get my needed exercise. A fast internet connection to make sure work from home is done as seamless as possible.

I usually did not appreciate internet connection speeds before, but now I honestly do. It has a big difference if your Internet connection is fast or slow.

To summarise, I can say that working from home has its perks and cons. This has also been an invaluable experience to me. But to tell you the truth, I miss going outside to the malls and other places and having fun under the sun.

I guess everyone does, but let us just endure a bit. When this is all over, we will be people with a new perspective and a new norm.

This pandemic too shall pass.

Olango Island – My Piece of Paradise

Long time no see!

I haven’t wrote about anything for over a month, and I want to share an experience I recently had which I really enjoyed.

Sometimes, people need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. They need to get away from it all, to rest their weary bones and soothe their souls. So, I decided to go to Olango Island, specifically Tingo, my mother’s hometown. For me, it is an experience which I can never forget.

While in Olango, we stayed in Baybayon Beach Home, a beautiful location in Tingo, northern tip of the island. It makes you feel like you are at a home and gives you a nostalgic feeling of tranquility.

After putting personal belongings here, we decided to tour the island. Riding a tricycle has never been more fun seeing people go about in their daily lives. We went to San Vicente and checked out a few places.

The truth is, I really regret that I only took a few photos of the places we went 😦 because I really enjoyed my stay there. This has been a wonderful experience. I hope I can see you guys there someday! 🙂

My Musings as a Fresh College Graduate

Graduation. The day where you feel that you achieved everything in life, where your goals are achieved, diploma obtained and made yourself and your parents proud. When I graduated almost two months ago, I felt that I have reached a point where I know that I have been successful with my life. I really felt pride in myself that I have a diploma which I can look at and say to myself that ” This is the end. I did it!”

And a month later, I was proven so wrong.

It dawned to me that the real world isn’t about the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above. It is about looking for post-graduate studies and looking for a job so that you can have your own money and sustain yourself and also help your family. The real world is a harsh place where if you lack the guts and the initiative to survive, you will be eaten alive.  My naivety was shattered and  developed a more pragmatic and realistic viewpoint of life. Or maybe I was too sensitive to begin with, I should change. These are the things that I realized post-graduation, and many more.

And most of all, I realized that life is not about having the best, it is about making the best of what you have. I have earned this diploma, and I will prove it to the world that I am someone who will make his mark someday, somehow.

Good day to all!
